What if Lab: Politie 2025

To visualize what the police should or could look like in 2025, the security partners of the Ministry of Justice & Security, the Public Prosecution Service, Regional Mayors and the Police commissioned an empathic research in society. The What if Lab, a program of the Dutch Design Foundation, appointed Tabo Goudswaard as the director of this research. Five design studios have contributed to this: Concrete Blossom, KETTER & Co, Lucas Maassen & Margriet Craens, STBY and Muzus. The question was: what do different user groups think the police organization should look like in 2025? In contrast to coming up with solutions, the design studios in this What if Lab have been looking for new insights from society to broaden the visions of the security partners. The studios went out into the field using a variety of methods. The core of each method was to not simply stop at the "what", but rather look for the "why" behind the insights.

Om een beeld te vormen hoe de politie anno 2025 eruit zou moeten of kunnen zien, wensten de veiligheidspartners Ministerie van Justitie & Veiligheid, Openbaar Ministerie, Regioburgemeesters en Politie een frisse blik van buiten. Het What if Lab, een programma van Dutch Design Foundation, stelde Tabo Goudswaard aan als regisseur van dit onderzoek. Vijf ontwerpstudio’s hebben hieraan bijgedragen: Concrete Blossom, KETTER&Co, Lucas Maassen & Margriet Craens, STBY en Muzus. De vraag luidde: hoe vinden verschillende gebruikersgroepen dat de politieorganisatie er in 2025 uit zou moeten zien? In tegenstelling tot het komen met oplossingen, zijn de ontwerpstudio’s in dit What if Lab op zoek gegaan naar nieuwe inzichten om het vizier van de veiligheidspartners te verruimen met geluiden uit de samenleving. Met uiteenlopende methodes gingen de studio’s het veld in. De kern van elke methode was om niet simpelweg te stoppen bij de “wat”, maar juist op zoek te gaan naar de “waarom” achter de inzichten.
